Verity Moore DC, MSc (Chiro)

Doctor of Chiropractic

Verity Moore has a special interest in acute neck and back pain and also sports injuries.  She has a lot of experience of taking care of women during pregnancy – both during and after pregnancy. She uses a range of techniques selected specifically for each patient. Health and fitness has always been important to her and from an early age she has been exposed to a variety of sporting activities as her father managed a sports centre.

I attained my Masters degree with merit from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic after completing a full time 5-year course. Health and fitness has always been important to me and from an early age I have been exposed to a variety of sporting activities as my father managed a sports centre. In the past I have worked with a Wessex League football team travelling to away games which was muddy, but rewarding. I enjoy helping people with chiropractic care to maintain good health when playing sports. Treating people of all ages, from babies to geriatrics, I use a range of techniques selected specifically for each patient.

Verity is available on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with a special interest in treating acute and chronic pain and sporting injuries.

Martin Krir D.C.

Doctor of Chiropractic

Martin has a wealth of experience, having been a chiropractor for over 25 years. He uses both McTimoney techniques and also manipulation, as required. He ran his own successful practice for all of this time, whilst at the same time working in close collaboration with local GP’s. They formed a team that worked together in order to ensure the most effective ways to treat back and joint pain.

He relocated to Southampton and joined the Avenue Clinic in 2016. He attends courses regularly to make sure that he remains at the cutting edge of knowledge and implements evidence based practice when treating. He uses a gentle, effective method of treatment and aims to relieve patients of their pain in as short a time as possible. He specialises in treating those people with acute injuries that want to get rid of the problem quickly, before it becomes a big problem.

Martin has a special interest in acute injuries and is available on  Wednesday and Saturday.

Joy Harrison D.C., M Chiro.

Doctor of Chiropractic

Since completing her Masters Degree at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic after 5 years of intensive study, Joy has worked in busy practices in Surrey, Fareham and Bournemouth, which has enabled her to gain a wealth of experience, as well as being able to treat a wide variety of conditions ranging from simple low back pain to more complex, chronic conditions that have been neglected.

She has undertaken many additional courses over the years that include sports massage, dry needling and applied kinesiology and she has developed a particular interest in treating headaches, and acute neck complaints.

She likes to research the ‘bigger picture’ to really find out why her patients may have developed the pain they are experiencing. By this detective work, Joy likes to work with her patients to reduce the likelihood of the pain returning. She likes to incorporate exercises and nutrition in the treatment of problems that are proving problematic.

In her spare time she enjoys keep fit with aerial aerobics and walking her dog. She enjoys cooking and loves learning new recipes but she likes to exercise regularly outdoors too so she keeps fit and healthy.

Joy is available on Mondays and Fridays and has a special interest in neck pain and headaches.

Meredith Plumb

Psychotherapist

We are delighted to have acquired the services of this wonderful therapist. She is a Person Centred Counsellor who trained at P.C.C.S. which is a private training centre in Manchester under Pete Sanders who is a very prominent professor of the Person Centred theory of Carl Rogers. She qualified in the year 2000 and is a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.  She has been in full time practice since qualifying. Person Centred therapy is client led and treats the whole person in a non-judgemental non directive way. Its purpose is to improve your quality of life and to explore the causes of chronic conditions such as anxiety, stress, depression, any other emotional or temperamental problem and chronic physical conditions such as back pain. Research shows that changing your mindset and brain biology can certainly help to lessen your pain. The therapy can be long or short because it is led by you – the client led and so you choose the duration of the therapeutic relationship.

The chiropractors at the Avenue Clinic are very aware that our patients with high levels or long duration of pain are at risk for developing psychiatric disorders and that they would benefit from treatment independent of physical treatment, which is what has led us to create our association with Meredith, in order to help the ‘whole’ of you get better. All of her consultations are by telephone and cost £40 per hour long session. If you would like a complementary discussion to make sure she can help you, call her on 0161 485 1744 or email her at meredithplumb@sky.com and please tell her we recommended you!

The Office Staff

Alternatively if you would like to come in for a complimentary short consultation, the chiropractor will discuss your problem and let you know if they think chiropractic treatment might be appropriate at no charge to you.
