Foot and ankle pain is very common – we walk around all day – often in shoes like this that completely change how we should walk and this puts more pressure on joints, ligaments and muscles and can eventually cause pain.

Squashing our feet into shoes like this can also cause nerve inflammation – Morton’s Neuroma and ankle pain when you wobble or fall on uneven ground.

Sports injuries cause foot and ankle pain frequently – when we run hard and jump repeatedly, the joints wear out – and there are a lot of them in the foot and ankle so as we get older, we often feel pain on walking as a result.

Flat feet can cause pain in the joints as can arches that are too high.
