Yoga Brings Greater Awareness In Movement – Essential For Pain Free Movement

COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES: THERAPIES THAT COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER

YOGA, MASSAGE AND CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENTS

Heather is the founder of Aerodynamic Yoga, which focuses on Awareness In Action (Action referring to physical or mental activity).

She uses the postures in yoga as physical challenges to hone your awareness skills, whilst at the same time improving muscular and, therefore, joint health.

Awareness originates in the mind through communication; the body with the mind and the mind with the body. Action or movement needs first to be understood by the brain then controlled by giving the correct instructions, all under the supervision of the central nervous system; brain, spinal cord and nerves. In the same way that yoga aims to bring greater awareness in the movement, so chiropractic treatment works to address the imbalances and adjust and correct where necessary. In particular, the treatment focuses on re-aligning the spine to promote the optimum functioning of the central nervous system, as well as identifying the effects of misalignment and imbalances in posture. She works together with you to to help you to help yourself.

Deep tissue massage encourages the soft tissues connected to the joints to release habitual tension, due to bad physical habits (postural) or inappropriate responses to ‘stress’; it’s not the situation that is stressful but our interpretation and therefore response that determine the stress levels. How we respond mentally has an inevitable physical effect. Massage addresses this through effective muscular tension release whilst promoting relaxation and a general sense of well-being (basically giving the brain/mind a time-out!)

So we are a team; the chiropractor, the yoga teacher and you the client, working together with the same aim: YOUR HEALTH.
