A 40 year old triathlete has lots of muscle – see the grey area below around the thigh bone in the middle of each leg. Then look at the smaller amount of muscle in the thighs of someone who has sat around for years.
Then compare that picture with that of a 70 year old who has aged but who has kept running – see how little adipose tissue there is in the 70 year old triathlete…it’s amazing!
The Chiropractors at the Avenue Clinic regularly recommend that you exercise to help your recovery and to keep you out of pain. We recognize that it is often difficult to motivate yourself to exercise – particularly when you feel better, therefore we thought we would show you the difference between someone’s muscles when they do exercise and when they don’t.
Adipose tissue is FAT … it cannot help you to move around.
We need muscle tissue to help us move around – fat does nothing to help us move.
When you think that you can’t be bothered to go for a walk – just think about these photos and instead of sitting reading the paper or in front of the computer – go for a walk … you will keep fitter for longer … if we are going to live longer, we need to be able to enjoy it!
If you need help regarding which exercises are the best for you, just give us a call and we can show you what would be best for your particular problem.
